RISD Prints by Concept Link

Please follow these printing guidelines to ensure your prints come out exactly as you want them!

  1. Photoshop: Flatten all Photoshop files and save either as a Photoshop EPS or compressed TIFF (USE LZW Compression ONLY) Never save image files as JPEG as the compression compromises quality. Files should be no more than 300 dpi/ppi at the final print size. TIFF files need to be converted to CMYK if the are to be used in another application such as Illustrator, InDesign, or Quark.
  2. Illustrator: When your document is ready for print go to MENU [Select] / [All] then MENU [Type] / [Create Outlines]. If you have used transparencies in your document select all the objects that are effected by the transparency and go to MENU [Object] / [Flatten Transparency] (YOU MUST TAKE THESE STEPS FOR YOUR ILLUSTRATOR FILE TO PRINT PROPERLY). Once you have Created Outlines and Flattened Transparencies go to MENU [File] / [Save As]. Save your file as an ILLUSTRATOR EPS. When you select Save a dialog will appear. Make sure the [Included Linked Files] check box is checked if it is an available option.
  3. InDesign: When your InDesign file is ready to print go to MENU [File] / [Package]. This will collect all your images and fonts associated with your document. Remember to never paste images into InDesign, always use the [Place] (InDesign) commands to bring images into your document.
